Lee Harvey Osmond – Quiet Evil

  • June 29, 2009

Lee Harvey Osmond – a collective of musicians that includes members of The Cowboy Junkies, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, The Skydiggers, The Sadies and others – is primarily led by Tom Wilson (Cowboy Junkies, Skydiggers), one of Canada’s most overlooked songwriters. Quiet Evil is an acid-folk record that pays homage to the artwork of Ralph Steadman whose acid drenched sketches accompanied the prose of the late Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. The record is slow paced and gently intertwines instrumentation with Wilson’s vocals. While the songs have traditional folk elements Wilson imbues them with an alt-country charm, hazy atmospherics and clever hooks, culminating in a fresh sound.
