Following the success of Belle and Sebastian’s last album The Life Pursuit Stuart Murdoch (band leader, singer/songwriter) pursued his dream of writing a rock musical for female singers. God Help the Girl is literate, witty and melancholic, combining the strengths and feel of early Belle and Sebastian records with a broader musical palette, drawing from musicals, 60’s girl groups, 80’s indie, and classic pop.
