The Flaming Lips – Embryonic

  • August 31, 2009

Embryonic – the forthcoming record from Grammy award winning Oklahoma trio The Flaming Lips – is their 12th studio release and their first double LP. Embryonic leaves behind all the concepts and experimentations found on The Flaming Lips’ previous two critically acclaimed albums, 02’s Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and 06’s At War with the Mystics for a less polished, more spontaneous sound. Embryonic is highly influenced by some of frontman Wayne Coyne’s favorite records and artists including the Beatles’ “White Album,” John Lennon’s Instant Karma, Led Zeppelin’s Physical Graffiti, and select works from The Clash and Miles Davis Group.
