Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Up From Below

  • September 14, 2009

10-piece LA band Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros’ debut album Up from Below is a retro revival of late 60’s folk-rock including hand claps and catchy group sing-a-long choruses. Frontman Alex Ebert (a.k.a. Edward Sharpe, IMA Robot) has gravelly vocals that are well suited for rock and roll and his band of charismatic merrymakers bring loads of spirit to the music and live performances. Up from Below is an album of sunny psychedelic jams full of jangly glee – think The Polyphonic Spree with less religious undertones and more of a hippie vibe and a dash of Arcade Fire.
