The Castanets (a.k.a Raymond Raposa) returns with Texas Rose, The Thaw, and The Beasts an album that takes the elements of rustic country, folk, blues and experimentation of Raposa’s previous records to the next level. Raposa rounds out the Castanets’ sound on Texas Rose with a full band that features a revolving cast of musicians from Pinback, Black Heart Procession, Rocket from the Crypt, Bauhaus, Tristeza and others. The resulting collaboration adds a hazy quality with subtle electronic flourishes to the already experimental, pastoral inspired themes and sounds.
