Jannis Moya Makrigiannis, the primary force behind Choir of Young Believers, sings haunting, solemn songs that float over orchestral pop music. Already compared to Fleet Foxes’ Robin Pecknold, Makriggianis has a clear, gorgeous voice that truly is the main attraction of This Is for the White in Your Eyes. Choir is mostly a solo project that uses anywhere from two to seven rotating musicians for performances. Many tracks have a lush, atmospheric feel that could easily double as a film score.
