Capgun Coup – Maudlin

  • November 23, 2009

Omaha band Capgun Coup’s sophomore release is an energetic album with elements of surf rock, garage pop, folk and punk. Recorded live in the Hotel Frank, Maudlin has a raw, DIY sound. Although most songs are about dark, sad times, the music is upbeat and loose. Similar to their 07 debut, Brought to You by Nebraskafish, the album is a frantic jumble of tracks that shift from lazy folk to mischievous punk. These guys are like the lovable town rebel – clearly up to no good, but way too charming to ever turn away. – Written by DBosket
