E.P. Hall – Mommy Crow

  • December 7, 2009

Mommy Crow, the first full-length release from E.P. Hall, takes Midwestern folk music to a dark, haunting place. After releasing the ep “The Edge of Middle in 2006, Elise Percy, the main force behind E.P. Hall along with Andy Goheen of Sticky and the Bees, spent some time working on a PhD at Indiana University. She has since stepped out of academia and is back with a collection of handily crafted folk tunes with electronic noise, buzzing synths, and other effects that support Percy’s gorgeous, clear voice. The use of sounds laden with nostalgic associations – birds, wind chimes, and carnival noises – creates a beautiful background for E.P. Hall to tell their stories. – Written by DBosket
