The instrumental group Sleep Whale hails from North Texas and is the combined effort of Bruce Blay and Joel North. Their debut full length album Houseboat is a gorgeous collection of songs that range from ambient noise laced instrumentals to tripped-out folk. The core of Houseboat centers around acoustic string arrangements with minimal percussion, sparse vocals and lots of layered sounds and digital effects. Overall, the songs found in this collection are polished, emotive and quite simply stunning, allowing the listener to effortlessly escape into the music.
