Look Mexico’s second full-length album sees the band experimenting with new sounds and instruments, giving To Bed To Battle a new, if not more complex, character. Adding pedal steel, violin, cello, horns, and electric piano to their usual repertoire, Look Mexico has opened itself up to alt-country and big ballads and employed a little less math rock than heard in the past. Lead singer Matt Agrella keeps the songs afloat, but the real heart of each track lies in Ryan Slates’ guitar and Josh Mikel’s drums.
