Lit From Within is the ambitious 32-song double disc release from The Paperbacks. Much like their earlier releases – 03’s An Episode of Sparrows and 07’s An Illusion Against Death – the songs on this latest album are a mix of power pop and alt-country highlighted by singer Doug McLean’s distinct voice. This Winnipeg band are often compared to their fellow Manitobans and friends, The Weakerthans, but it looks like these guys are on the right track to getting recognized more for their music than their associations. – Written by DBosket
