Chris Coole – Old Dog

  • February 1, 2010

Chris Coole is known as one of the premier clawhammer banjo players in the old-time music/bluegrass world. Previous releases with Arnie Naiman and Erynn Marshall established Coole as a skilled composer with a distinct style that meshes perfectly with the tradition of old time music. Old Dog – Coole’s first solo project – mixes five original songs with three covers and a couple traditional tunes, culminating in a unique and spirited Americana/bluegrass album. Old Dog features guest performers: Andrew Collins (mandola, mandocello), Arnie Naiman (guitar), Burke Carroll (pedal, lap steels), Andrew Downing (bass, cello), and John Showman (fiddle). – Written by JFelton
