Icelandic singer Ólöf Arnalds has a delicate, childlike voice that beautifully narrates the indie folk-pop songs on Vid og Vid. Originally released in 2007 in Iceland and named Record of the Year by the nation’s largest newspaper, Morgunbladid, Vid og Vid is just now making its way to the United States. Arnalds’ voice is clearly the main instrument on the album, and she deftly uses it to create an almost mystical sound. She also uses charango, toy guitar, harp, ukulele, strings and horns to add to her melodies, but never overpowers her songs with heavy instrumentation.
