Memphis String Band – Home Sweet Home

  • March 30, 2010

The South Memphis String Band is a contemporary blues supergroup of sorts consisting of Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars, Black Crowes), Grammy-winner Alvin Youngblood Hart, and Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers). Their debut Home Sweet Home showcases songs by Blind Willie Johnson, Jonny Lee Moore, the Mississippi Sheiks, and A.P. Carter, alongside originals tracks with plenty of raw vocals, finger-picked acoustic guitars, banjos, mandolin, dobro, harmonica, kazoo and plenty of foot-stompin’ to go around. With Home Sweet Home, the South Memphis String Band brings listeners an authentic Americana music experience. – Written by JFelton
