Fionn Regan – The Shadow of an Empire

  • April 8, 2010

Irish singer/songwriter Fionn Regan follows up his 06 debut The End of History with the more up-tempo, bluesy The Shadow of An Empire. Regan’s songs are full of creative wordplay and confessional lyrics that complement his easy melodies and energetic guitar riffs. Fans may notice that on this album Regan uses electric guitar and employs more of a rockabilly sound on several tracks, including “Genocide Matinee” and “Protection Racket,” while “House Detective” sounds like an homage to “Subterranean Homesick Blues.” Regardless if this is seen as a departure from his prior sound or a progression, Regan’s latest is a delight to listen to. – Written by DBosket
