Cedarwell – A Stone, A Leaf, A Door

  • May 4, 2010

The Wisconsin indie folk act Cedarwell release their third full-length A Stone, A Leaf, A Door (the title is an homage to a Thomas Wolfe novel), a follow-up to the excellent 08 release Smoky Mountain Bear. Fronted by Erik Neave, Cedarwell’s harmonies and acoustic guitar based tracks include bells, synth, piano, and harmonica. The tracks on A Stone, A Leaf, A Door are meticulously crafted, resulting in an album of contemplative and melancholy songs featuring Neave’s delicate vocals that flawlessly integrate with the instrumental arrangements. While Cedarwell is anchored by Neave’s creative direction, the band and the music are ever evolving and continue to push boundaries while maintaining a polished and tight knit sound. – Written by JFelton
