Bryan Yurgelis and The Winter Shakers – The Frontier Life

  • May 10, 2010

Cleveland’s Bryan Yurgelis is a writer, artist, and singer/songwriter for the indie folk band The Winter Shakers as well as the director of the Modern Ohio Cavalry, a collective of artists, poets, musicians and free thinkers from the buckeye state. The February ‘10 release, The Frontier Life, is a dusty mix of pioneer hubris and Western America peppered with ambient noise and field recordings, or what Yurgelis aptly dubs “low-fi wilderness folk.” Inspired by his own wanderings as well as the adventures of others, the self proclaimed “last great American explorer” recently retraced the steps of vanished explorer Everett Ruess in the wilds of southern Utah, adding further fodder to his musical musings. Check out this unique album filled with autobiographical adventures, contemplations and interesting historical references. – Written by JFelton
