The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion – Dirty Shirt Rock ‘N Roll: The First Ten Years

  • May 25, 2010

Dirty Shirt Rock ‘N Roll: The First Ten Years is a 22 track retrospective of the legendary American punk-roots band Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, spanning from 92’s self-titled debut album to 02’s Plastic Fang. Spencer (former frontman of punk band Pussy Galore) and the Blues Explosion took roots rock, blues, R&B, and even funk and twist and turned them into something both dirty and irresistibly seductive. A collection of veritable ‘best of JSBE tracks, Dirty Shirt Rock ‘N Roll features some of their top tracks including “Afro”, “Bellbottoms” and “Wail.“ Rarities and stray tracks hold their own, from the Japan-only live album Controversial Negro; A Ass Pocket of Whiskey (a collaboration with R.L. Burnside), Sideways Soul (with Calvin Johnson), the Experimental Remixes E.P., Xtra-Acme and more. – Written by JFelton
