The Vaselines – Enter The Vaselines

  • May 18, 2009

The beautiful pop music of Scottish group The Vaselines (made popular by Kurt Cobain) is unpolished, occasionally heavyhearted, always absurd and overtly sexual. The combination of a lo-fi DIY sensibility, boisterous vocals, pop melodies and punk guitar that make up the sound of The Vaselines has drawn comparisons to contemporaries like Jesus and Mary Chain. The 2009 reunion of Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee prompted Subpop to remaster and re-release Enter the Vaselines with the addition of rarities, unreleased demos and live tracks. If you missed The Vaselines the first time around they are smart, humorous, sexy – upbeat pop music at its best.
