The National Lights is the songwriting project of Richmond, VA based Jacob Thomas Berns. The Dead Will Walk, Dear draws inspiration from ‘80s slasher flicks, Southern Gothic literature and traditional folk music, culminating in a gorgeous disconcerting listen. Berns bewitches his audience with wistful vocals, sparse arrangements and sweeping cadences that include: acoustic guitars, piano, lap steel and subtle background harmonies and contributions from Chris Kiehne (The Bland Allisons) and Sonya Cotton. The Dead Will Walk, Dear is an impressive debut with melodies and harmonies that contradict the macabre themes of the songs.
