Breaks in the Sun is the follow-up to 2008’s critically acclaimed La Lamentor by the Portland based band Weinland. Adam Shearer (principal songwriter, guitarist, vocalist) teamed up with Adam Selzer (M. Ward, Norfolk & Western) and Badman Recording Co. to record Breaks in the Sun. Shearer’s quiet, gentle songs feature characters that are on the edge and sullen but are also sarcastic and hopeful. Breaks in the Sun is an intimate record with rich vocals, acoustic guitar, dobro, cellos, violins, pedal steel, mandolin, melodica and brushed drums – a contemporary classic that is both staggering and tranquil.
