Dragonslayer, the third album by Sunset Rubdown, returns to a more organic music making process than the studio sound found on the previous album “Random Spirit Lover.” Spencer Krug (Wolf Parade, Swan Lake) is the creative force behind Sunset Rubdown and with Dragonslayer he releases a record of sprawling, fractured Bowie-like tracks. Backed by a four-piece – Jordan Robson-Cramer (drums, guitar, keys), Michael Doerksen (guitar, bass), Camilla Wynne Ingr (keys, percussion, vocals) and the newest member Mark Nicol (bass, drums, percussion) – the band has finally settled into its own. Dragonslayer was unassisted by studio magic and is honest, unaffected and straightforward. Due out June 23rd.
