Anderson East – Delilah

  • November 24, 2015

Delilah – the third album and first major label release – from singer/songwriter Anderson East (a.k.a. Mike Anderson) blends elements of Americana, soul, blues and rock. Produced by Dave Cobb (Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell) who also shared drum and guitar duties, and joined by veteran Nashville musicians Chris Powell (drums) and Brian Allen (bass) – complimenting Anderson’s soulful vocals. Delilah perfectly captures 60’s southern soul, evoking the sounds of Muscle Shoals – some of the tracks were recorded at the legendary FAME Studios – while bringing a modern sensibility. Standouts include: the George Jackson classic “Find ‘Em, Fool ‘Em and Forget ‘Em”; the Chris Stapleton co-written track “Quit You”; the sultry ballad “What a Woman Wants to Hear”; the sweaty profession “Satisfy Me”; and the bluesy soul of “Devil in Me.” Delilah was one of my favorite albums of the year from one of my favorite up-and-coming talents. If you are new to Anderson East, be sure to check out his previous album – the equally enchanting “Flowers of the Broken Hearted.” – Written by JFelton
