The Avett Brothers – True Sadness

  • September 6, 2016

The Avett Brothers’ ninth album, True Sadness, is the another triumphant partnership with producer Rick Rubin. Together they push the envelope sonically, with even more expansive sounds including elements of autotune and synths. While treading at times toward pop territory, at its core True Sadness is country-roots tinged greatness that hits on universal themes of love, loss, and hope. Standouts on the collection of 12 tracks include: the opener “Ain’t No Man”; the ballad “I Wish I Was”; and the title track. – Written by JFelton
