Benjamin Gibbard – Former Lives

  • October 11, 2012

One of most talented singer/songwriters of our generation, Ben Gibbard, is finally out with his first solo album. Following 15 years fronting indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie and side projects ¡All-Time Quarterback! And electronica duo The Postal Service, Gibbard’s Former Lives reveals his personal take on the past eights years worth of people, loves, places, and drinking. The twelve tracks revel in details – lyrical and compositional – exploring Seattle, L.A., relationship and divorce from Zooey Deschanel, love letters of Scott and Ella Fitzgerald, and even a cappella and a chorus of mariachi horns. Former Lives is a fantastic album; standout tracks include “Something’s Rattling”, “Teardrop Windows”, and a duet with Aimme Mann “Bigger Than Love.” – Written by SMarx
