The Besnard Lakes – You Lived in the City

  • September 8, 2011

Montreal quartet The Besnard Lakes, known for their expansive indie rock sound, have been exploring the cinematic realm on their past couple of projects. Following the score for Mark Ruffalo’s 2010 directorial debut Sympathy for Delicious as well as their own Polaris prize nominated full length, The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night, The Besnard Lakes are releasing You Lived In the City – a compilation of songs for the interactive web documentary Welcome to Pine Point. The film hits close to home on many fronts, from the subject – a company mining town in the Northwest Territories that was abandoned when the mines closed in 1988 – to the origin – one of the creative directors is a childhood friend of frontman Jace Lasek. Additionally the album includes a cover of fellow countrymen Trooper’s “We’re Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time)” as well as outtakes from the upcoming French Canadian film Memories Corner. Check out the album later this month or catch the band as they tour across Canada and the West Coast this fall. – Written by SMarx
