Buxter Hoot’n – Buxter Hoot’n

  • August 18, 2011

San Francisco based quintet Buxter Hoot’n self-released their self-titled third album of finely crafted Americana/Southern rock. Centering around the two Dewald brothers Vince (guitar, violins, piano, harmonica) and Jimmy (bass), Buxter Hoot’n also includes Ben Andrews (guitar, violins), Jeremy Shanok (drummer/organist/vocalist), and Melissa Merrill (vocals), all of whom take turns at vocals. The ten songs feature a mix of Americana, roots, southern rock and flourishes of bluegrass and European folk, with an overall sound influenced by the Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead. Check out opening track “Mariel”, “Thought I Heard You Say”, “Go Get Your Gun” and the charming instrumental closer, “Curtain.” – Written by JFelton
