Cahalen Morrison and Country Hammer – The Flower of Muscle Shoals

  • November 9, 2014

Cahalen Morrison, along with his full band, Country Hammer, have released the The Flower of Muscle Shoals – an impressive album colored by Morrison’s childhood experiences growing up in the wild outdoors of Northern New Mexico. These experiences combined with Morrison’s musical history, from his first country/ranchero band at 13 years old to his recent collaborations with Eli West, merge to create a country-western collection that resonates with its storytelling and fine craftsmanship. Highlights among the 12 pieces include: the title track written for Morrison’s wife (she’s from Muscle Shoals, AL), the sorrowful ballad “Through Your Window”, the heartbreaking “Over and Over and Over Again”, the rousing “Our Love Is Like a Hurricane”, and the Cajun influenced “San Luis.” The Flower of Muscle Shoals is easily one of the best country records of the year and a new classic – go out and give it a listen. – Written by JFelton
