Calexico – Algiers

  • August 29, 2012

Calexico is consistently one of the best bands around, whether it is playing live shows or cutting a new album. The Tuscon, AZ based alt-country/indie rock band is coming out with their sixth studio album, Algiers. This time the southwest style is bypassed for a sound steeped in New Orleans, specifically Algiers Point, melding African, Caribbean and local jazz influences. The passion for and connection to the soulful and mysterious land on the Lower Mississippi River is clear, and their talent for making a sound all their own means that Algiers is another perfect addition to their excellent discography. – Written by JFelton
