Louisville, Kentucky chanteuse Cheyenne Marie Mize is set to release the follow-up to her 2010 solo debut Before Lately with her We Don’t Need EP. The past year has been good to Mize, with her springtime performances in Austin garnering praise from NPR as one of their ten “Discoveries at SXSW 2011.” The six songs are a far cry stylistically from the late 19th century parlor music she sang alongside Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy on “Among the Gold”, showcasing her talented songwriting and lovely voice atop a noticeably percussion driven soundscape while retaining the dreamy, open spaces found on her debut. In the past couple days Mize announced that the EP has been picked up by Yep Roc Records, a harbinger of even better things to come from this gifted songstress. – Written by SMarx
