Old Crow Medicine Show – Remedy

  • November 9, 2014

On Remedy, the first album by Old Crow Medicine Show following the departure of founding member Willie Watson, the band is as energetic as ever. Produced by Ted Hutt (Lucero, Dropkick Murphys), the band’s fifth album is their most polished recording to date. This set of thirteen tracks features tighter arrangements and vocal harmonies and greater dynamics like upright bass mixing alongside banjos, fiddles, and mandolins. Standouts include: the wry country tear-jerker “Dearly Departed Friend”, the Doc Watson tribute “Doc’s Day”, the Bob Dylan collaboration “Sweet Amarillo,” and a feel-good anthem “Mean Enough World.” Remedy finds Old Crow Medicine Show playing more confidently and ambitious than their last album, making for a stellar addition to the band’s discography. – Written by JFelton
