Denney and The Jets – Mexican Coke

  • April 7, 2014

Denney and The Jets is the brain child of Nashville native Chris Denney. Five years ago he started writing songs about his colorful life and experiences that include tales about sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. The culmination of these efforts is Denney and the Jets’ debut full-length, Mexican Coke. This 10 song set of raucous Chuck Berry-meets-Stones style rock is filled with infectious guitar hooks, vintage R&B grooves, and Denney’s country drawl. Standouts include: the Rolling Stone-esque “Mama’s Got the Blues”; ’50’s style ballad “Darlin'”; the apologetic “Runnin’ Through the Woods”; the semiautobiographical sing-along “Pain Pills”; and the first single “Bye Bye Queenie.” Without a doubt, Mexican Coke will definitely be one of the best rock ‘n’ roll records and debuts of the year. – Written by JFelton
