Divine Fits – A Thing Called Divine Fits

  • September 3, 2012

It comes as no surprise to me that Britt Daniel (Spoon) and Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade) would combine their jangly and taut indie rock stylings, and along with drummer Sam Brown (New Bomb Turks) form the Divine Fits. While Daniel and Boeckner share vocal duties (about 50/50), the Divine Fits bring together tight rhythms, sharp guitar hooks, honed percussion, and droning digital bass centered around Boeckner’s brilliant synths. The album is a solid debut: as a whole it sounds fresh and consistently infectious and as they hone their collective sound, the Divine Fits will only get better. Standouts on A Thing Called Divine Fits include “My Love Is Real”, “Flaggin’ a Ride”, and the cover of “Shivers”; this will definitely be on my list of top albums for the year! – Written by JFelton
