Eilen Jewell – Sundown Over Ghost Town

  • September 10, 2015

Following 2011’s acclaimed Queen of the Minor Key, singer/songwriter Eilen Jewell relocated back to her hometown of Boise, Idaho from Boston, where she has given birth to her daughter and now has released a double live recording and a new album. Sundown Over Ghost Town plays like a homecoming, with reflective songs populating the set more than on previous releases. Jewell continues to blend elements of traditional country, blues and folk; a few standouts include: the tender folk tune “Worried Mind”; the Tex-Mex tinged “Rio Grande”; the lonesome ballad “Here with Me”; the spirited spaghetti western “Hallelujah Band”; and the rollicking “Shakin’ All Over.” Sundown Over Ghost Town is a more restrained yet beautifully crafted album – one of Jewell’s finest to date. – Written by JFelton
