Fountains of Wayne – Sky Full of Holes

  • August 22, 2011

Grammy award nominated power pop band Fountains of Wayne celebrates their fifteen years together with the release of their latest full-length on Yep Roc, Sky Full of Holes. Led by the songwriting team of Chris Collingwood and Adam Schlesinger, the record retains their characteristic narrative style with middle-aged suburban American characters who reside in the mundane and at times find humor in their banal circumstances. The guys have grown up, and so has their sound. Still armed with the occasional pop culture reference (FOW is famous for their video depiction of Rachel Hunter in “Stacy’s Mom”) the band portrays a more relaxed sound, favoring acoustic guitar over hardcore driving electric guitar riffs. Fans of their work are sure to enjoy Sky Full of Holes; standouts include ”Richie and Ruben”, ”Someone’s Gonna Break Your Heart”, and closer ”Cemetery Guns.” – Written by SMarx
