The Gallerist – A Falling Waltz

  • November 7, 2011

Boston singer/songwriter Michael Collins, under the name The Gallerist, has released a lovely indie folk rock album, A Falling Waltz. Inspired by bands such as Wilco, Neil Young, and Simon and Garfunkel, and with an acoustic sound that compares to The Avett Brothers, Jeff Tweedy and Mumford & Sons, Collins creates what he calls “folk micro-anthems” that range from folk to blues to rock. Collins, who supplies vocals, guitar, banjo, and percussion, is accompanied by friends on bass, double bass and drums, resulting in a full band sound that brings the songs of hope into sharp relief. Standout tracks include opener “Songbirds” and closing song “A Parent Apology”, both available as free downloads at The Gallerist’s bandcamp site. – Written by JFelton
