Homesick Hank – Beautiful Life

  • November 23, 2015

The Danish Americana band Homesick Hank formed in 2002 and it’s been six years since their previous excellent release, Ghosts. Now the group is out with their fourth album, Beautiful Life, which is another set of polished melancholic and lyrically poetic Americana music akin to bands like the Milk Carton Kids, Dolorean, and The Great Lake Swimmers. Across their discography, Homesick Hank has teamed-up with notable guests like Will Oldham (Bonnie “Prince” Billy) and Catherine Irwin (Freak Water), and their latest matches talents with Mary Gauthier. Album highlights include: the opening track “How”; the tender and reflective “Mexico”; the duet with Gauthier on “Believe”; the dappled “Sun”; and the heavy-hearted love song “Where are You.” Beautiful Life is another solid album from Homesick Hank – they are a fantastic band that deserves more attention in the U.S. – Written by JFelton
