The Hooten Hallers – The Hooten Hallers

  • June 19, 2017

Columbia, Missouri punk-inspired roots rock band The Hooten Hallers (the self-defined Hillbilly Soul band) are out with a self-titled album which is a high-energy mix of blues, soul, country, punk rock and rockabilly. The two-piece band is based around the songwriting and energy of Andy Rehm (drums, vocals) and John Randall (guitar, vocals), who are often joined by others in live performances and in the studio. Special guests on the album include Ryan Koenig (Pokey Lafarge’s South City Three) and some production from Kristo Baricevic and Johnny Walker (Soledad Brothers). Album highlights include: the catchy opener, “Charla”; rockers like “Garlic Dream” and “Rhythm And Blues”; the dirty blues track “Gravity”; the sweaty blues of “Knew You’d Come Around”; and the lighthearted “Staying Away from Joe.” If you like punk driven roots rock, then give the The Hooten Hallers’ new album a listen. – Written by JFelton
