Islands – A Sleep and A Forgetting

  • January 23, 2012

Brooklyn by way of Montreal indie-pop band Islands is set to release their fourth album, A Sleep and A Forgetting, on February 14th. The eleven track collection whose title refers to the 1979 novella by Orson Scott Card about a cancer drug with a side effect of erasing memory, was recorded live in a couple of weeks with frontman Nick Thorburn and Evan Gordon leading production. The quartet which is known for their art pop aesthetic takes a different turn, with an intensely personal examination of loss, memory, forgetting and dreaming. The result is a set of subtle songs that are emotionally resonant and affecting. – Written by JFelton
