John The Conqueror – The Good Life

  • February 18, 2014

Philadelphia based John The Conqueror follow-up their self-titled 2012 debut with their sophomore full length, The Good Life. The trio of Pierre Moore (songwriter, vocals, guitar) and Michael Gardner (drums) along with Ryan Lynn are now more road tested, and the experience shows in the lyrics and the more mature soulful blues-rock sound. Moore set out to improve his songwriting chops, and the tales from his childhood in Mississippi up through recent stints on the road showcase classic blues themes like women, drinking, and trouble. Standouts on the set of eleven tracks include “What Am I Gonna Do”, “Golden Rule”, and a cover of Randy Newman’s “Let’s Burn Down the Cornfield.” – Written by SMarx
