Joshua James – My Spirit Sister

  • May 27, 2017

It’s been four years since the Utah-by-way-of-Nebraska troubadour Joshua James released a full-length record. As always with James’ music, he lays his feelings bare to listeners and his new album, My Spirit Sister, is no different. My Spirit Sister weaves a gorgeous sonic palette of expertly crafted music with personal reflection over themes of love, religion, humanity and spirituality. The songs on this album are filled with cathartic moments, a bit of melancholy and personal truths. Album highlights include: the beautiful opening track, “Broken Tongue”; the ghostly atmospherics of “Real Love”; the heartbreaking “Millie”; the pastoral rock song “Losin Mi Mente”; and the lovelorn “Dark Cloud” and “Pretty Feather.” Spirit Sister is another beautiful and polished album that leaves me wondering why more people don’t know about Joshua James. – Written by JFelton
