Key Losers – California Lite

  • August 1, 2011

Portland band Key Losers is the newest project of Katy Davidson (Lloyd & Michael, Cynthia Nelson Band, YACHT) – and their debut full-length California Lite is exactly that – a lighthearted, free-spirited guitar driven, LA in the 70’s inspired pop. While it achieves the southern west coast aspirations, the album was engineered further north, in the Washington port town of Anacortes, by Phil Elverum (Mount Eerie). With expressive songwriting and soundscapes that range from the experimental pop sounds found on their debut Adjust EP to afrobeat, from freeform jazz to yacht rock (think Michael McDonald, pre-Footloose Kenny Loggins, and “Sailing” by Christopher Cross), melody reigns supreme, driving the songs forward and bringing them together. Check out California Lite for summer sounds to chill out with. – Written by SMarx
