King Tuff – King Tuff

  • June 18, 2012

Following 2008’s limited release Was Dead, King Tuff (a.k.a. Kyle Thomas) is out with his self-titled debut on the Sub Pop label. King Tuff has kept busy in the interceding years, performing with his other band Happy Birthday and touring with Feathers, Witch, and Hunx & His Punx, and the experiences have further developed his sound. While still sunny lo-fi garage pop with fuzzed out guitars, the works are more energized with bigger powerpop sensibilities. Produced by Bobby Harlow (The Go; Conspiracy of Owls), standouts among the twelve tracks include opener “Anthem”, “Bad Thing”, and “Baby Just Break.” – Written by SMarx
