Leatherbag – Yellow Television

  • September 8, 2011

Leatherbag is the proto-punk/rock band from Austin fronted by songwriter Randy Reynolds, a transplant from Houston following Hurricane Rita in 2005. The ensuing years have brought many changes, from bandmates to several releases, and their latest Yellow Television is now out on Leatherbag’s bandcamp site. The full-length album – a successful Kickstarter project – has been in the works since 2010 and was recorded in a whirlwind three days onto 2-inch analog tape, resulting in a stripped down production values with a distinctly 70’s texture. Reynolds and crew throw down nine tight classic rock tracks with a few twists of blues and country, including an 11 minute guitar-laden closer. Standout tracks include “Imitation Generation”, Modern World”, and “Sparrow Blues.” – Written by SMarx
