Lewis And Clarke – Triumvirate

  • December 8, 2014

Lewis & Clarke (Lou Rogai) quietly released some of the best folk-tinged indie music over the past decade, starting with 2005’s Bare Bones and Branches, followed by 2007’s Blasts of Holy Birth and 2009’s excellent Light Time EP. While there is still a rootsy undertone to Lewis & Clarke’s latest release, Triumvirate, the band continues to evolve into a more expansive and slow burning sound. A double-album hosted on Rogai’s label, La Société Expéditionnaire, the eleven songs each run long – from five to ten minutes – providing an expansive and sonically indulgent collection. Standout tracks on these carefully crafted and complex albums include opener “Eve’s Wing”, “The Reach and the Grasp”, and “The Turning Sky.” – Written by JFelton
