The Lone Bellow – Then Came The Morning

  • March 10, 2015

The Lone Bellow follow-up their critically acclaimed 2013 self-titled debut album with Then Came the Morning – a more varied, sophisticated, and spirited release. Through experimentation, the trio further developed their own brand of soul infused folk rock and alt-country. Founder Zach Williams (guitar) maintains lead vocals for most of the set, with Kanene Donehey Pipkin (mandolin) and Brian Elmquist (guitar) rounding out the album with more captivating gems. A few standout tracks include: the hopeful “Take My Love”; the bluesy “Heaven Don’t Call Me Home”; the R&B-tinged “Cold As It Is”; the sultry lead track “Call To War”; and the country weeper “I Let You Go.” Then Came The Morning is a very satisfying sophomore effort and I look forward to more great music from this band throughout the years. – Written by JFelton
