Lydia Loveless – Somewhere Else

  • March 21, 2014

Columbus, Ohio based alt-country singer-songwriter Lydia Loveless returns with her third album, Somewhere Else, the follow-up to 2012’s Indestructible Machine. Whereas Indestructible Machine had a more distinct country twang, Somewhere Else has a more country tinged rock and roll vibe. Somewhere Else is a confessional album and finds Loveless contemplating matters of the heart and soul in songs about loneliness, encounters with married men, old boyfriends and lust vs. love. Highlights include: opener “Really Wanna See You”; the punchy “Wine Lips”; the heartbroken ballad “Hurts So Bad”; the literary “Verlaine Shot Rimbaud”; and the Fleetwood Mac-esque title track. With this latest, Loveless again proves her talent for smart, honest country rock, poising her for great success in the coming years. – Written by JFelton
