THE MAGNETIC FIELDS | LOVE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA

MERGE

On March 6th The Magnetic Fields are coming out with their tenth full length studio album, Love at the Bottom of the Sea. Frontman Stephin Merritt and bandmates Claudia Gonson (percussion, piano, vocals), Sam Davol (cello, flute), John Woo (banjo, guitar) are joined by guests Shirley Simms, Johny Blood and Daniel Handler (a.k.a. author Lemony Snicket) for the excellent set of fifteen quick tracks. Recorded in NYC, L.A, and San Francisco, the band returns to their earlier synth and acoustic sound that made 1999’s 69 Love Songs a success, in contrast to the “no synth” theme of the previous trilogy. The resulting collection finds the indie pop group in fine form. – Written by JFelton
