The Maldives – Muscle for the Wing

  • October 29, 2012

Seattle band The Maldives have undergone some major changes since their last full length, Listen to the Thunder, by reducing from a nine-piece to a sextet and exploring a broader spectrum of country, forgoing their more traditional bent for a broader roots rock sound on Muscle for the Wing. Thematically singer/songwriter Jason Dodson mines stories of tragedy, love, escape, and women, all soulfully rendered with a host of instrumentation ranging from guitar to banjo, fiddle to piano. Another fine production from this up-and-coming band, standouts on Muscle for the Wing include ”Come On, Come On”, “Blood on the Highway”, and “Go Back to Virginia.” – Written by JFelton
