Michaela Anne – Easier Than Leaving

  • September 19, 2016

Nashville-by-way-of-Brooklyn singer/songwriter Michaela Anne received a fair amount of critical acclaim for her debut album Ease My Mind, and two years later she is back with a stellar sophomore release, Bright Lights and the Fame. Recorded at Nashville’s Farmland Studio with Dan Knobler (guitar) and producer Dave Brainard, the LP features notable guest performers like Cory Chisel, Erin Rae, and Rodney Crowell. While Bright Lights and the Fame tends to fall on the more lovelorn, heartbroken and reflective side, a few standouts include: the opening track “Living Without You”; the pensive “Easier Than Leaving”; the regretful waltz “Everything I Couldn’t Be”; and “Luisa.” Michaela Anne aspired to create an album that is realistic yet emotionally resonates, and she has achieved it with Bright Lights and the Fame – it is well worth seeking out. – Written by JFelton
